September: Fort Warren, Georges Island in Boston Harbor.
I and another photog friend decided to take a trip out to Georges Island to get in some exploring. This wonderful old place was originally constructed during the American Civil War to defend the sea channels into Boston. It is now an historic site and a National Park. This is a wonderful place to photograph. Most of the construction dates back to the Civil War although there were additions made during the first and second World Wars. Many of the older rooms are almost entirely constructed brick or granite with vaulted ceilings. The combination of light and stone was wonderful.
We weren't the only ones enchanted by this place; while we were there we came upon a group preparing for a wedding to be held the next day. Items meant for the wedding were left in this window sill where they caught my eye. The lantern, candles, and wheat seemed to compliment the light spilling in through the window against the granite wall.
